A native of Wonewoc, Wisconsin and a graduate of Illinois College of Optometry, Dr. Connors started his optometric practice in Middleton in 1971. He has been an active community leader in Middleton, having served many municipal commissions and community organizations. He has devoted a great deal of energy and time to the betterment of vision care for our community and the communities at large as well as the profession of optometry.

He has served as president of the Wisconsin Optometric Association and was Wisconsin Optometrist of the Year in 1990. He has been instrumental in optometrists gaining the privilege to prescribe medication for the treatment of eye diseases in Wisconsin and other states. He served on the American Optometric Association's Board of Trustees for many years, and in 2003 assumed the highest volunteer position serving as President of the nation's largest association of optometrists.

Dr. Connors serves on the board of the World Council of Optometry serving 78 member organizations of the world representing over 250,000 optometrists. WCO serves to assure and foster the vision and eye wellness of all citizens of the world, and to promote the profession of optometry. He was instrumental in 2005 to get Optometry Giving Sight up and running in the United States.

Isthmus Eye Care, has endorsed OGS as their international charity of choice, contributing and raising funds to support eye care services for those in need of eye care in the world through the World Health Organization’s Vision 2020; Right to Sight program, a program addressing functional blindness from refractive error or low vision.

He enjoys many outdoor recreation activities such as fishing, hunting, hiking, canoeing or working around his country home. He is especially fond of training and working with his bird dogs, German Pudelpointers, instructing other dog owners to successfully train their dogs or judging field tests for bird dogs.
