Scott A. Jens, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Scott Jens grew up in the eastern Wisconsin community of Kiel and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Illinois College of Optometry. Dr. Jens has practiced family-oriented optometry since 1991.
He achieved the status of Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and has been an active member and volunteer in the Wisconsin Optometric Association and American Optometric Association. His service has included time on the WOA Board of Directors including serving as President in 1997, as well as the AOA InfantSEE® Committee which chaired from 2003 to 2009.
Dr. Jens is proud of the recognition given to him by his peers: he is the only doctor in Wisconsin to have been awarded both the Young Optometrist of the Year Award (1996) and Optometrist of the Year Award (2000). In 2002 he received the WOA’s highest volunteer recognition, the Dr. Curtis F. Kenitz Optometric Service Award, for his efforts to establish a fully benevolent eye care clinic in the inner city of Milwaukee. He received the WOA Presidential Special Service Award in 2005 and an AOA House of Delegates Presidential Resolution in 2006 for his role in the development and national launch of the AOA InfantSEE® public health program.
Since 2005 Dr. Jens has been involved in developing a web-based electronic health record computer application for optometrists. This unique software service, called RevolutionEHR, allows eye doctors and their staff to have secure access to patient data from any computer on the internet, and increases the accuracy of patient care by providing constant opportunities to evaluate patient records. RevolutionEHR is now installed in eye doctor practices in almost 50 states with hundreds of optometrists and their staff using it every day for every patient care experience.
Dr. Jens has been very active in the Middleton community. He was long-standing secretary for the Sunset Ridge Elementary School PTA, and served on the school district's enrollment management committee in 2002. He has been an active youth sports coach for local teams in softball, ice hockey, baseball, flag football, and soccer.
Ultimately, his life is centered around his family. Cheryl, his wife, has a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling, and now enjoys caring for their three children, Blake, Shay, and Bryn. Their regular family trips to Walt Disney World are a testament to their belief in the Disney principle of “dream, believe, dare, do.” Recreational activities include running, golf, swimming, and any of the sports that his children enjoy. He also loves to play around with computer technology.
